Scarves and Shawls

Hand woven scarves and shawls by Sarah Jane Wilson.

I use beautiful soft merino wool and other luxury yarns to create these unique scarves and shawls. Some yarns are dyed by hand using natural dyes. Then they are made into a warp, carefully threaded onto the loom ready for weaving. After weaving they are hemmed on the loom or the end are made into tassels after the work is cut off the loom. The scarves are then milled - gently washed and squeezed in warm soapy water to full the yarns and make them lovely and soft. Each scarf can take between 8 to 10+ hours to make, much more if they have been hand-dyed first.

My choice of colours and designs are inspired by nature and landscapes. I take photographs and sketch colour studies which are later translated into weaving.

Each piece of weaving is unique, no two designs are ever exactly the same. You will own of piece of carefully designed and crafted art to wear and keep for a lifetime.
